If you were in America, and subject to television news, then there is no way you could have missed the inane and often hilarious news coverage of the elections. No, no, no, not major elections like when we propped up Obama, but races for two governors posts, two congressional seats and of course, the very interesting and somewhat evil Mayoral race here in New York.
If you have ever worked in a newsroom, you know how crazy things can get on an election night and are often baffled by how much planning goes into producing 24-hour, wall to wall coverage. But despite all that planning and designing fancy graphics to show-off the poll numbers, much of what gets discussed on TV by election “pundits” is often inane, repetitive and overly simplistic.
Here’s Jon Stewart skewering cable news television’s coverage of the polls.
