Are Harvard Business School Grads killing Wall Street with their enthusiasm? Yes, says expert Ray Soifer

Yes..says Ray Soifer, a retired executive from Brown Brothers Harriman.

Ray Soifer calls it a “rather esoteric but nonetheless generally accurate” long-term indicator of the direction of stocks. According to the index, when Harvard graduates pile into Wall Street jobs, the market is probably overheated and could be heading for a tumble.

He devised a system for measuring market sell signals based on the plans on Harvard Business School grads.

By his metric, when 10% or less of a graduating class take Wall Street jobs, it’s a long-term buy signal. When 30% or more take market sensitive Wall Street jobs, it’s a big flashing sell signal.

Check these kids out at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Who knows where they will be in seven months time (Hint: at home, on the couch, in sweatpants, eating out of a cereal box), but for now, they’re dishin’ out some mean rhymes in their journalism ethics class! Here they are rapping to the tune of Jay -Z’s “Empire State of Mind” (Hat Tip: M.Walz)

You thought your school was pricey? Check out this list of the most expensive colleges in the United States

You have to check out this list on the most expensive colleges in the United States. I am mildly appalled that Columbia University doesn’t feature in the top 10 (surprise! considering I know a bunch of alumni who could attest to Columbia’s skyrocketing fees and costs)

CampusGrotto.com’s list of top 100 most expensive U.S. colleges includes the following in the top 10:

College

Cost

1. Sarah Lawrence College

$54,410

2. New York University

$51,991

3. The George Washington University

$51,730

4. Bates College

$51,300

$51,196
