I know, I know, I promised to not write about Tiger Woods anymore..but here is one more promise broken. February's issue of Vanity Fair has a piece by "Friday Nights Lights" author Buzz Bissinger, that describes Tiger's efforts at maintaining a scrupulous image, all the time he was fooling around with those other women. As with most of the pieces surrounding the Tiger Saga, the fun is in the juicy details and the piece recalls an old interview with Tiger - in which he made more than a few profane jokes. Like this one- "He rubbed the tips of his shoes together and then asked the women, 'What's this?' They were stumped. 'It's a black guy taking off his condom.'"

I know, I know, I promised to not write about Tiger Woods anymore..but here is one more promise broken.

February’s issue of Vanity Fair has a piece by “Friday Nights Lights” author Buzz Bissinger, that describes Tiger’s efforts at maintaining a scrupulous image, all the time he was fooling around with those other women.

As with most of the pieces surrounding the Tiger Saga, the fun is in the juicy details and the piece recalls an old interview with Tiger – in which he made more than a few profane jokes. Like this one- “He rubbed the tips of his shoes together and then asked the women, ‘What’s this?’ They were stumped. ‘It’s a black guy taking off his condom.’”

Errrr…hokaaayy!

Read the whole piece at Vanity Fair.

While the piece is normal celebrity tripe, the extras lie in the pictures taken by debt ridden super-photographer Annie Liebovitz.

She shot a bunch of hot pictures of Tiger Woods four years ago – doing man stuff- i.e crunches, lifting weights and the like. The pictures, reportedly went into her secret archives. Now that she finds herself in debt – a whopping $24 million – she dusted those topless pictures of Tiger, sold ‘em to Vanity Fair and is probably paying off her creditors. Go Annie! Milk the saga for what it is worth! Plus, you can finally pick up your home phone again!

Ah gossip! Like water for fishes.

The year has thankfully grinded to a halt…but indiejourno’s quest to keep you entertained and informed continues. So, we decided to paw our way through our archives and dig out the most read stories on our site. There were really no surprises!

Haagen Dazs’ ridiculous snafu of having an “offer” at their debut outlet at the Mumbai airport, that claimed to serve only foreign customers infuriated most readers. For those of you who missed the whole kerfuffle, here’s what happened.

Haagen Dazs outlet shoos away Indian customers

Tiger Woods. Need we say more? Garden variety skanks, cocktail waitresses, and aging porn stars. Tiger got it on with possibly everything that moved. So did no one know about Tiger’s roving eye? What about sports journalists that followed the golfing superstar through his tournaments? Did they see Tiger’s philandering ways? And if they did, were they obliged to write about it?

Tiger in the rough: Should sports journalists care?

For many students in Queens, NYC, overcrowded schools are a constant reality. Each day they jostle and push through crammed hallways, squeezing into classrooms designed for fewer occupants. Some students in Jackson Heights, however, may soon be granted a reprieve.

New school to open in Jackson Heights

Another story from Queens makes the list. This time, holiday fever grips all – as shoppers in New York, look to stay local and shop global.

Queens Holiday Shopping: Stay local, shop global

My mind took a while coming around to this video. Only because I am a crotchety old person that types with one finger- r.e.a.l. s.l.o.w. But here is an amazing presentation by a guy called Pranav Mistry. Ho Hum, so what’s new you say? Well, this guy is the inventor of SixthSense, a wearable device that enables interactions between the real world and the world of data.

This will blow your mind, make you lose 30 pounds, and help you win ten thousand dollars cash

And this list cannot be complete to a shout-out to all the bigots in the world. Let’s start with America – and our biggest ranter – Glenn Beck. When he is not spouting fake tears on TV – he is busy making nonsensical talk about the health care system in India. Here he is, comparing the name of the sacred river Ganges to a disease. (Message from India, Glenn: We love you too.)

Lessons from Glenn Beck – How to be a bigot 101

Ask not what you can do for Radiohead, ask what Radiohead can do for you?

Tuning in to Radiohead was one of indiejourno’s big smash hits.

Ben Bernanke says the recession is over, the DOW swaggers to the top of 10,000 and Obama assures us the worst is behind us. Job numbers released this Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics back them up showing a net job loss for November of just 11,000. Here’s our exclusive interview with Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit.

Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit adjusts to the “New Normal”

You are on Twitter – now what? You are not Ashton Kutcher, so you don’t automatically get a gazillion followers. You are not the New York Times, so still no crazy fan following. You are plain ‘ol you – like me. Here’s how regular folk like you and me can maximize Twitter’s potential.

4 ways to attract followers on Twitter

And with one year slipping into another, let’s not forget that two wars still rage on. As suicide bombings mount and U.S army members combat insurgents, hostile locals and trauma on the battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan – they also struggle with issues within their own camps. Our story on one soldier’s fight againt sexual harassement within the U.S army drew a lot of sympathy from our readers.

The Tiger saga continues to play out like a train wreck on a car wreck.

In the third biggest endorsement loss this month, Swiss watch maker Tag Heuer has dropped Tiger Woods from their marketing campaign.

The move comes after the public unraveling of Tiger’s marital and sex life after almost 14 alleged mistresses tumbled out the closet, mussed hair and all, to claim affairs with the golfing superstar.

“We recognize Tiger Woods as a great sportsman, but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events,” Tag Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babain told Swiss newspaper Le Matin.”

The company — whose luxury timepieces sell for thousands of dollars — said it would continue to support Woods’ charitable foundation but would rely on other celebrities, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, to be its public face.”

Leonardo DiCaprio, leader of the rumored legendary late-’90s entourage known as “The P—y Posse.” Wonder if Tag Heuer remembers that, added New York Magazine snarkily.

Whatevs! Getting booted out by Leo is the latest in a string of rejections for Tiger.

On Sunday, consulting firm Accenture dropped the athlete, saying he was “no longer the right representative” of the company’s values. Gillette, a unit of the Procter & Gamble Co., said over the weekend that it won’t air ads for its razors that include Woods or include him in public appearances. AT&T said it is evaluating its relationship with the golf superstar.

And so it goes…

Ok, so we have been preoccupied with Tiger Woods’ several torrid trysts with ladies of all sorts.

So, we have decided this is the last post, because latest news says Woods is taking a temporary break from Golf.

Good.

Now go buy Elin some flowers. No, Tiger! Put those pants back on.

Anyhoo – in case you were living under a rock and missed the latest developments on L’affaire Tigre, here’s what has transpired, according to a blog on the San Fransisco Chronicle.

The Huffington Post has it that Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren has purchased a $2 million home in her native Sweden.

But that alleged development has other media outlets assuming she’s leaving Woods.

Now, it’s reported at the same Huff Post that Woods himself is moving to Sweden with Elin Nordegren.

But Campbell Brown and Larry King Live both on CNN reported that Woods and his wife were going to get away on their yacht.

So from all this we can only conclude that Woods and wife are traveling to Sweden on their yacht.

Right. So now you know why this is the last post on Tiger. Good bye and good riddance

Social scientists say we enjoy reading tripe about celebrities so much, because it humanizes them – brings them down to our [base] level- and shows that they too poo in the morning, have cellulite and are human – warts and all.

Others suggest that being a celebrity also weirdly enough makes you public property.

You endorse Wheaties, therefore we have the right to pry into your public life, after all my 6 year old is probably watching your commercials, buying your cereal, looking upto you as a potential role model.

AP Sports Columnist John Leicester, however, presents a different argument. He contends celebrities aren’t public property. He says purchasing a razor, drink or sportswear endorsed by Woods doesn’t buy you a piece of the man, too.

“That Woods is on his way to becoming or has already become the first athlete to top $1 billion in earnings says plenty about how easily led consumers are. But it doesn’t entitle them to know everything that Woods does behind closed doors.”

And then there are the others that suggest Tiger Woods should come clean a la David Letterman. Wait, that’s absurd! David Letterman made an entire career of mocking politicians for their transgressions and he was being extorted for $2 million.

No one is asking Tiger for any money and Hey! Tiger didn’t poke fun of Pols caughts with their pants down. So, that argument truly doesn’t hold.

Whatever Tiger does decide to do – come clean, go into hiding, not care- play golf – his saga will continue to play out in the tabloids. Last heard, big O – Oprah Winfrey was trying to get him to come on her show.

Till that happens, Tiger can rest in the infamous Hall of Shame with fellow cheaters, Mark Sanford, John Edwards and the like and like any true celebrity be voluntary fodder for late night jokes.
